New Instagram gradient

Instagram’s iconic rainbow polaroid has been refreshed. Initially static, the polaroid rainbow is now an array of colors that change dynamically based on the content and interactions. Gradients change in composition and colour balance in 2D and 3D spaces. Gradients are used in the “Story rings” and serve as the basis of their colour palettes.

Instagram’s new custom typeface

A fresh global custom typeface called “Instagram Sans” has been created by Instagram. The typeface is inspired by the minimalist shape of a camera. “The in-between-moments of a perfect circle and a square, which we affectionately refer to as the “squircle,” appear throughout the typeface,” says Instagram’s website.

The typeface introduction is in three styles: Instagram Sans, a more playful Instagram Sans Headline and the block-like Instagram Sans.

This font family also comes in multiple weights such as light, regular, medium, and bold. These types were designed with accessibility in mind and are inspired by global scripts.

The brand has tried to make the font seem “more human” and try to give a “friendly personality” with details such as a teardrop shape in the interior of “a” and sheared endpoints of lines that suggest that they were written with the flick of a human hand.

Social Platform’s new layout and design approach

Instagram says its new approach to the layout of its brand resources will mirror that of its mobile application. Marketing communications will be “confident and simple, placing community and content at the forefront.”.

Instagram’s new design language will be inspired by the app and feature full-bleed images that draw attention to the content while referencing the in-app experience. Instagram claims that its user interface tells the story of its product.

“The brand is pleased to add life to Instagram’s experience with the reinvented gradient,” the statement from Instagram. Instagram Sans is a new look for the company’s worldwide community to express themselves in areas like Stories and Reels on Instagram.
